According to the Ottawa Real Estate Board Ottawa real estate agents sold 684 residential Ottawa homes in January 2012 via the Ottawa MLS. Last January 677 Ottawa homes were sold and the five year average for January Ottawa home sales is 652.
138 of these sold Ottawa property listings were condominiums and 456 residential (free-hold) properties.
The inventory is higher than a year ago so home buyers have more choices according to the Board president.
The average sale price of residential properties, including condominiums, sold in January Ottawa was $349,415, representing a healthy increase of 5.6 per cent over a year ago. Ottawa condos showed a strong sale price increase of 6.8 percent over last January, while free-hold type residential home sale prices increased 5.5% in the same time period. The average sale price for an Ottawa condo was $253,210 and the average sale price of a residential- freehold type home was $373,731. (Source: Ottawa Real Estate Board)
