7-tips-ro-writing-headlines

Writing blogs can be the easiest part. The hardest is choosing the right headline that will explain the blog without giving too much away. Here are our top 7 tips for writing a powerful headline.

1. Use Numbers
Whether it is a magazine or newspaper, you will always see numbers on the front page. This could be a statistic or in reference to a ?how to? article. Numbers from 1-10 usually work best however picking numbers at random like 19 or 23 can also catch someone?s attention. You will notice that a lot of our articles will contain a number in the headline, just like this one does.

2. Ask a Question
Asking a question as a headline is a great way to grab someones attention but won?t always work. If you are constantly asking questions as the headline for all of your articles, you will find your readers completely ignoring your posts all together. Worth noting that asking rhetorical questions will not work in your favour.

3. Use Interesting Adjectives
Something that can be overlooked is the use of interesting words. What works for one person may not work for someone else but using words like Powerful, Helpful, Important or Influential will work for you. These kind of adjectives draw people into your writing as it will make them feel like they will get something out of reading your blog.

4. The 5 Ws
Using who, what, when, where, why will be a great way to bring your audience in. This will work in the same way as using interesting adjectives; if people feel like they will learn something from you, they will not only tell you, but also share it with their community.

5. Make an offer
If you have a product or service that is currently on special offer, use this as a headline. Money is a great attraction and if one of your readers see that they could receive a percentage off your product by reading your blog on how to claim the discount, they will do it immediately.

6. Case Studies or Testimonials
The best way to connect with readers is to make something feel personal. There is no better way to do this than share a case study of yours or testimonial. Including either Case Study or Testimonial in your title will build your reputation.

7. Use the Headline Formula
Most journalists will use a headline formula to get the best response possible. We suggest using the below formula for your headlines;

Number or Trigger word + Adjective + Keyword + Promise = A Powerful Headline

I hope these 7 tips have helped you write a powerful headline. We would love to hear your feedback.
